🤔 Did you know seagrass🌱 is one of the worlds most rapidly declining ecosystems?? ⠀ ⠀ A soccer ⚽️ field worth of seagrass disappears every 30 mins due to things such as coastal development and pollution 😲 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

🤔 Did you know boat use is one of the major threats to seagrass🌱?⠀ ⠀ Whether its anchoring in seagrass meadows, propeller scars from being in water that is too shallow to actual boat🚤 groundings- all these are avoidable threats that face seagrass. These activities rip up seagrass roots and destabalise the ecosystem, becoming major threats as small scars can become like major roads through the meadow with continued use.⠀ ⠀ Restoration of these can take up to 1️⃣0️⃣ years, as once seagrass is uprooted it can lead to erosion of the sand banks it grows in- Imagine all the work that goes into planting a flower🌼 bed except underwater! ⠀ ⠀ Through greater community outreach, and boater education these are some of the threats that can be easily managed! ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

The low tide🌊 brings out a whole different perspective👁️ of Roebuck Bay. ⠀ ⠀ The seagrass meadows of our Bay are normally covered but because of the HUGE tides we have here we get to see them in all their glory - But only on the lowest⬇️ of low tides ⠀ Does this look like a Forrest to anyone? ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

🤔 Did you know just like plants on land, Seagrass 🌱is an important sediment stabiliser? ⠀ ⠀ Because Seagrass has roots (unlike seaweed) it is able to help seabeds retain their structure in the moving tides 🌊helping to create a constant habitat for different sea creatures, big or small! ⠀ ⠀ It constantly is building and securing sediment which can buffer the coast from erosion, storms and flooding.⠀ ⠀ This is one of seagrass' unique strengths! 💪⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

🤔 Did you know that Seagrass🌱 IMPROVES water💧quality?⠀ Not only does it absorb nutrients and reduces turbidity (makes water more clear), studies also show that seagrass can also absorb all different types of Bacteria🤢- Including ones that come from humans!⠀ ⠀ If you love your crystal clear clean oceans then you have to love Seagrass! 😍😊 ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

Due to the construction👷 at Town Beach we will be meeting in a slightly different place than usual.⠀ ⠀ Our ever brave volunteers will have to face a whole new environment..... THE PLAY GROUND 😱 😂 ⠀ ⠀ You better make sure to come down on Tuesday so you don't miss this once in a lifetime chance 🤣 😁 ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

Get EXCITED!!! Only 5️⃣ more sleeps😴 till our first monitoring event for the year 😁 😁 ⠀ ⠀ We can all be a bit groggy in the morning so here are the meeting points for each site in case you get lost 😂 ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

🤔Did you know that turtles🐢 can eat up to 2kg of seagrass🌱 a day?!?⠀ ⠀ Sometimes we find them, like this beautiful Green Turtle, having a rest 😴on the mud flats while we are monitoring. Its always so special when it happens 😊 ⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

🤔 Did you know that per hectare seagrass🌱 can store 2️⃣ times more carbon than terrestrial (land) forrests🌲🌳?!?⠀ ⠀ AND⠀ ⠀ Despite only making up less than 0.2% of the world’s oceans, Seagrass stores approximately 10% of all carbon buried in ocean sediment every year 😮💪⠀ ⠀ #BroomeSeagrass #FromSeagrassBigFishGrow #RoebuckBay #Broome #SeagrassWatch #CitizenScience #Bioindicator #methodology #research #MarineFoodWeb #LoveFishThankSeagrass #BrommeTime #BroomeLIfe #science #LowTide #TheKimberley #environment #sea #SoBroome #seagrass #SeagrassLove #volunteerbroome

”Travel is like love, mostly because it's a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That's why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.” - Pico Lyer ❤️

Unforgettable scenery 🔥🌊❤️ Broome gave me the opportunity to fly with a drone. Loved it!

Australian winter isn't too bad 💁‍♀️☀️❤️

I’m still waiting for.. Guess what 🐊❤️🕷️?

Today I left Western Australia - its a weird feeling to be in the Northern Territory, especially because of the new time zone. But I’m so happy to be closer to my last destination here in Australia.

When time doesn’t move from hour to hour, but from moment to moment! 🦋

I could think of worse places to be stuck... ☀️ I’m since 12 days in Broome and I still don't know when my journey through WA and NT will continue. I'm quite relaxed although I have fewer than six weeks left. My visa clock is ticking too fast. 🙈🙊🙉

In #Broome, driving along the Outback roads, you will always stop the car multiple times to take in the incredible scene before you. Guaranteed. #JustAnotherDayInWA 📷 credit: @kruis222

The calm of ultra-turquoise Town Beach in #Broome. Sit on the rocks and watch the world go by. 🎣🎣🐠 The coastlines of Western Australia are everything you imagine in your neon blue rainbow beachy dreams - just a shame you can't be jumping right in there. Too many creatures who don't like humans. #JustAnotherDayInWA

Streeter's Jetty - the original jetty for Broome based pearl luggers, which made the region prosperous. Located in Chinatown, which back then was called Japanese Town for those who were here working in the pearling trade. The original jetty was much longer than this, and a small part remains to preserve the heritage of the area. It's also a perfect chill-out spot. #JustAnotherDayInWA

Camel rides on Cable Beach. One of the most iconic images from this long stretch of coastline in #Broome. We decide to follow the ones in blue! #JustAnotherDayInWA

Off the orange road and turning into an unmarked sandy road, we came to Barred Creek. This day became a random adventure, getting off-road in #Broome with our Aboriginal friend who knows all the secluded spots and sites with meaning to his community. Without their knowledge, you would never see the true outback beauty that lies tucked away within a hour or so radius of the town. #JustAnotherDayInWA

The rocks of Broome's pearly white Cable Beach... Concealing newly found dinosaur footprints. 🐾Everyday you can see people out there trying to find them as the tide washes away layers of sediment - the modern explorers of Western Australia. #JustAnotherDayInWA

If Mars had people and crystal blue skies, it might well be called #Broome and be mistaken for Western Australia. Clambering the other worldly rocks of Gantheaume Point in the centre of town. #JustAnotherDayInWA
