Automeris randa, or Rand's eyed silk moth, is a species of buck and io moths in the family Saturniidae. It was described by Herbert Druce in 1894 and is found in Central and North America. These moths are generally characterized by the eyelike patches on the hindwings and the leaflike pattern on the forewings, an example of crypsis. The genus was first described by Jacob Hübner in 1819 and it is distributed in the Neotropic ecozone BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE Automeris randa H. RepostBy @bio_sapiens: "The Ampulicidae, or cockroach wasps, are a small (about 170 species), primarily tropical family of sphecoid wasps, all of which use various cockroaches as prey for their larvae. They tend to have elongated jaws, pronounced neck-like constrictions behind the head, strongly petiolate abdomens, and deep grooves on the thorax. Many are quite ant-like in appearance, though some are brilliant metallic blue or green. Most species sting the roach more than once and in a specific way. The first sting is directed at nerve ganglia in the cockroach's thorax, temporarily paralyzing the victim for a few minutes - more than enough time for the wasp to deliver a second sting. The second sting is directed into a region of the cockroach's brain that controls the escape reflex, among other things. When the cockroach has recovered from the first sting, it makes no attempt to flee. The wasp clips the antenna with its mandibles and drinks some of the haemolymph before walking backwards and dragging the roach by its clipped antenna to steer it to a burrow, where an egg will be laid on it. The wasp larva feeds on the subdued, living cockroach BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE Ampulicidae Shuckard, 1840 SCIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION Kingdom:Animalia Phylum:Arthropoda Class:Insecta Order:Hymenoptera Superfamily:Apoidea Family:Ampulicidae ______________________________ P H O T O : @eyeofscience ______________________________ PLEASE FOLLOW @bio_sapiens TO SUPPORT US IN SAVING BIODIVERSITY Tag a #Insect lover Please use hashtag #biosapiens #wildlife #facts #biodiversity #italy #photooftheday #bevegan #animalovers #animals #Americas #africanimals #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #environment #photography #animalplanet #animals_magic #bbcearth #tree #Australia #S"

The ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata) is a species of turkey residing primarily in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico, as well as in parts of Belize and Guatemala. A relative of the North American wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo), it was sometimes previously treated in a genus of its own (Agriocharis), but the differences between the two turkeys are currently considered too small to justify generic segregation. It is a relatively large bird, at around 70–122 cm long and an average weight of 3 kg in females and 5 kg in males.Vocalizations of the hen ocellated turkeys are similar to that of their northern relatives, however the male vocalization known as a “gobble” is quite different in comparison. The gobble begins with several low frequency "thumps", much like the sound of a small gasoline motor starting BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE Meleagris ocellata Cuvier, 1820 SCIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION Kingdom:Animalia Phylum:Chordata Class:Aves Order:Galliformes Family:Phasianidae Genus:Meleagris Species:M. ocellata ______________________________ P H O T O : @benknoot ______________________________ PLEASE FOLLOW @bio_sapiens TO SUPPORT US IN SAVING BIODIVERSITY Tag a #Bird lover Please use hashtag #biosapiens #wildlife #facts #biodiversity #italy #photooftheday #bevegan #animalovers #animals #Americas #africanimals #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #environment #photography #animalplanet #animals_magic #bbcearth #tree #Australia #SouthAmerica #forest #earth #noplanetb #Africa #india #germany #Japan #birds

The Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus), also known as the common peafowl, and blue peafowl, is a peafowl species native to the Indian subcontinent. It has been introduced to many other countries. The function of the peacock's elaborate train has been debated for over a century. In the 19th century, Charles Darwin found it a puzzle, hard to explain through ordinary natural selection. His later explanation, sexual selection, is widely but not universally accepted. In the 20th century, Amotz Zahavi argued that the train was a handicap, and that males were honestly signalling their fitness in proportion to the splendour of their trains. Despite extensive study, opinions remain divided on the mechanisms involved. The bird is celebrated in Hindu and Greek mythology and is the national bird of India. The Indian peafowl is listed as of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE Pavo cristatus Linnaeus, 1758 SCIENTIFIC CLASSIFICATION Kingdom:Animalia Phylum:Chordata Class:Aves Order:Galliformes Family:Phasianidae Genus:Pavo Species:P. cristatus ______________________________ P H O T O : @pratikhumnabadkar ______________________________ #wildlife #facts #biodiversity #italy #photooftheday #bevegan #animalovers #animals #Americas #africanimals #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotography   #wildlifeaddicts   #seewildlife   #destination_wild   #ourwildlifedays #wildglobe   #natgeowild   #animalelite #exclusive_wildlife   #wildgeography   #wildlifefriend   #indianwildlife #wildlifeonearth #wildlifeowners #wildlifephotography #wildlifeindia #seewildlife #destination_wild #ourwildlifedays #wildglobe #natgeowild #featured_wildlife #wildlife__focus #world_bestanimal   #splendid_animal
