Seeing the stars now-a-days makes me remember the first time I was able to see the stars since my extreme #lightsensitivity started. ⠀ A tension headache typically feels like a steady ache or discomfort in the head. The pain may be distracting, but not debilitating. On the other hand, a migraine is a severe, throbbing headache. If you have severe head pain and feel light-headed, nauseous, sensitive to light, or experience other visual disturbances, you may be suffering from a migraine. 👉Terramed migraine glasses: an effective choice to fight migraines!💙💚 ⠀ 🌍terramed.info ⠀ #migraineglasses #migraine #migrainerelief #terramedinfo #terramed #photophobia #lightsensitivity #blueblockingglasses #fl41lenses #fl41glasses #dizziness #blueblockers #pain #painrelief #chronicpain #chronicmigraine #glasses #glassesformigraine #terramedglasses #pinklenses #pinkglasses #migrainessuck #migraineheadaches #migrainepain #eyes #protecteyes

Who else is SUPER sensitive to light and noise? 🙋🏻‍♀️🌞 Sensitivity to environmental triggers like sounds, light and even smells, can be extremely difficult to manage and hard to understand for people who don't suffer the same pain. Bright lights and loud noises, for me, can trigger or exacerbate migraines, induce nausea, dizziness, feelings of confusion, anxiety, tachycardia and arrhythmia. Some smells and textures make me physically sick and being in crowds with lots of people, noise and lights makes me super anxious and often leads to panic attacks. Who else finds light and noise triggers their symptoms? How do you manage it? How do you explain it to people you are with when it happens? Today I tested an adult construction worker who avoids reading and writing. When he has to fill out forms or read for inductions at work, he gets help from fellow workers. When his specific irlen tint was diagnosed he was able to read more fluently and he said it made a huge difference! He said he no longer needed to use his finger to keep his place and was now able to see all the letters in the words. (He was only able to identify this AFTER he saw the words with the irlen tint) He said the words on the page were not confusing like they were and he could understand what he read now. The page was easier to look at, no longer bright and uncomfortable. He was very happy to finally work out why he had always struggled at school and why he avoided reading and writing most of his life. He is excited for the future and what the world of reading can open up for him. #rewardingjob #irlen #dyslexia #lightsensitivity #readingdifficulties #writingdifficulties #headaches

Besides sunglasses or light-filtering glasses, baseball hats are my go-to for light triggers. I usually wear them with my glasses, who am I kidding! But it works and helps me to be outside if I absolutely have to, like when traveling to an appointment. We have different hats available now and are working at adding new designs at https://achysmile.shop/collections/hats. #BrainLove #MigraineThing #lightsensitivity #migraine

💠 WHAT IS A MENSTRUAL MIGRAINE? Four out of every ten women suffer from migraines — and more than half of them report a link between those migraines and their monthly cycle. Called menstrual migraines, they typically strike immediately before and after the first day of a woman’s period. ⠀ 💠 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A MENSTRUAL MIGRAINE. For many migraine sufferers, a throbbing pain is felt only on one side of the head, often behind the eye or in the back of the head and neck, and generally last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Migraine symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. ⠀ 💠 WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT ‘MENSTRUAL’ ATTACKS? Menstrual attacks are typically more severe, last longer, and are more likely to recur the next day than non-menstrual attacks. This means that many women who find that their migraine treatment works well most of the time may still have a problem with managing their menstrual attacks. Characteristically these attacks are without aura. ⠀ 💚💙 Find migraine relief with #Terramed #migraineglasses! ⠀ 🌍 terramed.info ⠀ #migraine #migrainerelief #migraineglasses #terramed #terramedinfo #lightsensitivity #photophobia #fl41glasses #fl41lenses #blueblockingglasses #chronicpain #chronicmigraine #glasses #glassesformigraine #pain #painrelief #pinklenses #pinkglasses #headachemigraine #headaches #hormonalmigraines #menstrualmigraine

"The words double and look confusing and it hurts my eyes to look at." This was what the year 2 boy I tested this week said when I showed him a page of print. His mum reported that he has great difficulty with reading, avoiding it whenever he can and complains of sore, watery eyes when attempting any reading activity. When we diagnosed his specific irlen tint, he was able to read without rubbing his eyes and more fluently rather than read one word at a time as he'd previously done. He said it was so much easier to even look at the page and was positive about wanting to read more. He was one happy boy upon leaving 🙂 #irlen #dyslexia #lightsensitivity #readingdifficulties #headaches #specificlearningdifficulties

Finally feeling better after a 6 hour migraine today. Taking a hot bath with an ice pack on my head usually helps ease the pain. ⠀⠀ This migraine was about an 8, a little vomiting, pounding headache, light and sound sensitive. ⠀⠀ Do you have any home remedies I should try?

Let's talk about photophobia or extreme light sensitivity. Photophobia is present in many eye conditions and albinism is not an exception. In fact, because of the lack of pigment, our eyes are unable to filter light coming in, thus making the world very bright and blinding. Persons with albinism have different degrees of photophobia. In my case, I cannot go outside without dark sunglasses and the shades of my windows at home are usually pulled down. Cloudy days are extremely blinding for me because they feel like a giant soft light box is shining in my face. Certain types of indoor lighting are also uncomfortable. Contrary to popular belief, in my case at least, photophobia doesn't mean that I like to sit in the dark or in a dim room. I like well lit spaces, but that means I have to be strategic with the type of lighting I use. It is hard to describe what photophobia feels like; it isn't painful, but it isn't not painful either. It is a very uncomflrtable feeling and it makes it practically impossible to keep my eyes open. Photophobia severely impacts what I can or cannot see. I suspect that if they were to measure my visual acuity outside facing the sun, my acuity would be just hand-waving, whereas in a properly lit room I can function relatively well. Growing up with extreme light sensitivity, I developed coping mechanisms, like tilting my head slightly downwards or unconsciously squinting. Most of the time I am not even aware that I am squinting! PD: close up of Antonia's face. She is smiling at the camera. Antonia has platinum long waivy hair. She is wearing large aviator sunglasses and green turtois shell statement earrings. Only way I’m going to be able to work today - light is killing me today, woke up with aches & pains all over, whiter than usual and my eyes just hurt with computer or normal room lighting. . . Hopefully there will be no teams video calls today, or management will be thinking I’m more mental than ever 🤷🏻‍♀️ needs must!!

How do you measure your light sensitivity? I have four lamps spread around my spacious living room for an evenly distributed gentle glow. On a good light tolerance day, all four of them are on. I always keep scarves draped over the pineapple lamp and the lamp on the piano, because otherwise they are too glaring for comfort. On an extra sensitive day, i can only tolerate one lamp. If it's the piano lamp, i have to cover it in multiple scarves so only a tiny bit of light gets through. The elephant lamp is usually more forgiving on my eyes because it's out of my direct line of site, but the other day it was the only lamp on and still too bright so i had to cover it with a scarf. So my way of measuring light sensitivity is to count the number of lamps i have on. Four lamps = mild/normal sensitivity; one lamp covered in one scarf = severe sensitivity, and one lamp with several scarves = very severe sensitivity. #lightsensitivity #lamps #gentleglow #lumens

The artificial eye is made with an aluminum-lined tungsten shell that serves as a round casing. It has an iris and lens in front and a retina in the back. The casing is filled with an ionic liquid. What is groundbreaking though, is the retina. It has a base made of aluminum oxide dotted with pores—each of which hosts a photosensor. In the back of the retina are thin flexible wires made of a eutectic gallium–indium alloy that has been sealed using soft rubber tubes. The retina is held in place by a polymeric socket that allows for electrical contact between perovskite nanowires and the liquid-metal wires at the back. The nanowires are banded together and connect to a computer that processes light information coming from the retina. The artificial eye is able to detect a range of light intensities that are close to that of the human eye. And its light sensitivity is also very near that of the human eye-it also responds to changes in light intensity faster than the human eye. It's capable of producing very high-resolution imagery, at least in theory. In the current model, the nanowires are banded together into groups of three or four wires, leaving the eyeball with a resolution of just 10x10 pixels, far short of the human eye. This is because of the size of the wires compared to the sensors-for the artificial eye to approach the resolution of the human eye, it will be necessary to connect millions of very tiny wires to the retina. . . . . Symptoms of light sensitivity were a struggle during filming days. Things needed to look good for the documentary- that requires using the proper lights for film! We decided we roll on cameras and leave my sunglasses on! At the end of the day the idea was to expose our symptoms to the world! To make them VISIBLE! ✨ To my advantage I do live on Los Angeles- so I rocked on the sunglasses and pretend to be a movie star 🤣🙈✨😎 with a crew of film makers following me! How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted screen use and brain health? We surveyed hundreds of people with neurologicial conditions and found that there has been steep rise in screen time during the outbreak. What's worse is that more than half (60%) are also experiencing an increase in symptoms like headaches, light sensitivity, dizziness and neck strain. While exposure to digital devices may not be solely responsible, it is believed to play a significant role in the onset of these symptoms. May 20th:⁣ ⁣Lyme Symptoms by Co-infections:⁣ ⁣ Unfortunately because Lyme is so misunderstood & misrepresented, many doctors go by the results of the Elisa or Western Blot blood tests which are highly inaccurate.⁣ ⁣ Some insurance companies require you do the Elisa first which is completely pointless in my opinion. Then if you get a positive from that you can have the Western Blot. 🤦🏼‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ So they have you take a very inaccurate test (50% accurate, if that) & only if you get a positive on this will you get to take one that is slightly better. The guidelines provided by the CDC to get a positive blood test are inaccurate as well. I will provide information on the problems with testing coming up.⁣ ⁣ They also do not test for the co-infections of Lyme disease. Ticks not only carry Lyme but hundreds of other devastating co-infections that can make you terribly sick. You could have Lyme but not any coinfections or you could have coinfections but not Lyme. #lymelottery ⁣ ⁣ It is important to know your symptoms. Most Lyme Literate MD’s (LLMD) will diagnose you based on symptoms. At one point, I had 3 months of symptoms on a calendar. Each day I would write down all of my symptoms, what I ate, & my temperate. If seeing a constant fever every few days or a plummet in temperate wasn’t a red flag for them, I’m not sure what would have been. ⁣ ⁣ Many symptoms for different coinfections overlap but it will be helpful for diagnosis if you keep a detailed record of daily symptoms for a few months. It is important to find a Lyme Literate MD to help you in your Lyme journey. I will provide resources about this coming up as well. #nightsweats #anxiety #depression #ringingears #drymouth #dysautonomia #ocd #panicattacks #hallucinations #tremors #airhunger #depersonalization #burningfeet #sleepparalysis #soundsensitivity #lightsensitivity #insomnia #bloating #constipation #brainfog #memoryloss
